(dailynews.com) With a bullet that entered her abdomen and remains lodged in her back, Las Vegas shooting victim Stacey Fusano hobbled on crutches Wednesday evening to attend a prayer vigil at a Santa Clarita park.

As she stood at the tables lined with white sheets of paper with the names of 12 Santa Clarita residents who were wounded, the mother of young twin boys covered her face and openly sobbed falling into the arms of a nearby woman for comfort.

“I can feel it. It’s like when you rub your finger over your knuckle,” Fussno said about the bullet. “It hurts.”

Fusano said she will find out next week if the bullet will be removed.

Authorities estimated 1,000 people gathered at Santa Clarita’s Marketplace Park to pay tribute to the 200 residents who attended the three-day Route 91 Harvest Festival on the Las Vegas Strip, Sept. 29 – Oct. 1. The Pray for Vegas event was hosted by the city of Santa Clarita and Real Life Church.

Erin Acquaviva read a poem she wrote four days after the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

Acquaviva attended the country western music festival with her husband and friends.

“We were under attack … wishing it would stop, running as fast as I could … and stopped when shots were fired,” Acquaviva said. “I am here. Some are not.”

Acquaviva, who cried throughout her reading, said the victims did not die in vain. She said she plans to live a purposeful life in their memory.

Canyon Country resident John Phippen was one of the 58 people killed at the festival by shooter Stephen Paddock. Nearly 500 people were injured. Two of the 12 Santa Clarita residents wounded remain hospitalized, said Carrie Lujan, a city of Santa Clarita spokeswoman.

Mayor Cameron Smyth told those gathered that he is always proud to represent the city.

“I call tonight my proudest moment,” Smyth said Wednesday night. “(This was a) senseless massacre and murder of people, including one of our own.”
